How I Landed My Full-Time Blogging Job
It fell into my lap, actually. (Some other time I should explain how to get a blogging job. If you want one let me know!) I want to briefly share how I got a full-time blogging job. I would also love to hear how you got involved with blogging too. In the fall of 2004 I started part-time copywriting and data entry work for a web publishing company headed by some of the same guys that are in charge of Know More Media now. That continued until the spring of 2005, when I graduated from college and they moved me to full-time status. Basically we were building a big network of static websites (in other words, not blogs) about various financial topics like insurance, investing, call centers etc. While things were going well, I have to admit that there seemed to be something missing. We were making websites that didn't allow for multi-directional conversation. Thankfully that soon changed. The guys in charge developed a vision for a similar idea - a network of blogs all about business topics. So in October 2005 they had me start writing at Business Blog Wire about corporate blogging and professional blogging. That was part of my full-time duty as an editor for the fledgling blog network. Know More Media officially launched in December last year and immediately began hiring expert authors. My job since the beginning here has been basically to help the authors make the most of their blogs and to help the network increase its blog traffic. It has been a wonderful time and I have been blessed to learn a great deal how to make a successful blog. WAKE UP! Okay, just making sure you're still here. :) So my blogging job fell into my lap and here I am trying to make the most of it. I currently write regularly for this blog and Business Blog Wire and also once a week for our main network blog at KnowMoreMedia.com. Finally I try to add to our network internal blog from time to time, giving the authors free blogging tips and other success-enhancing ideas. Enough about me. How did you get started with your own blog or blogging job? Let's hear some stories!

Hi Easton,

Short version: not writing is not an option. Blogs provide immediate exposure, praise and criticism as well as a venue for the writer to give to the reader.

And yes, Easton, I'm looking for a blogging job with Know More Media. You have my contact info, I believe.

Carolyn

We'll be in touch, Carolyn!
