If you have a blog, you probably already know from experience that blogging can be addictive. One of the most tempting blog addictions for many bloggers is to compulsively check their blog traffic and ranking statistics several times a day, for no apparent reason other than to know exactly how their blog is performing.
Traffic stats, feed subscriber stats, Technorati ranking stats ... remember that these are just numbers. I recommend that you check your most important blog stats once a day at most and then leave them alone. If you're extremely interested in your blog stats, take a closer look once a week for 15-30 minutes to evaluate your blog's progress and adjust your blogging plans.
I check the following blog stats once each morning:
Feed subscribers - Just to see if there are any huge spikes or dips.
Visits and page views - Mostly to make connections with other bloggers who may have just linked to my blog. Also to see if there are any significant spikes or dips.
Technorati inbound links - So that I can connect with or respond to someone who has just linked to my blog.
What about you? How often do you check your blog metrics and what numbers do you specifically look at? How important is your blog traffic and/or ranking to you?

HaHa, thanks for the link - a blast from a recent past.
I'm down to once a week - but it's more thorough and detailed and uploaded into Excel etc., I'm now more productive during the week and much more saner.
Everything I need for a daily basis (who's linking to me, writing about me etc) I've set up via rss.
