Looking for alternatives to getting traffic from Google? Bill Belew author of TheBizofKnowledge, PanAsianBiz and RisingSunofNihon shares his ideas on trying to capitalize on other traffic sources. Although he get's about 60-80% of his traffic from Google, he did a little research and found that his traffic is also coming from a few other places as well...
Recently I dug threw all my blogs to find out where else I get traffic from.
Google sent me 67-80% of my traffic depending on which blog I looked at.
I am curious to know what percentage others depended on them. Want to share?
But...I also get traffic from elsewhere:
Yahoo searches, AOL searches, Ask.com searches, referrals and direct traffic.
So, how to capitalize more on those other sources is what I have been thinking about.
My Ideas, and I do hope you all will share, too:
Direct traffic - that seems to me to be the RSS subscribers. I split all my posts so that readers who find something of interest will come to the blog.
Referrals - I have many of my related posts linked within posts and from blog to blog. I am fortunate to have three blogs that I can interlink when topics are related, and I do relate them often. If other KMMlers would like to set up an exchange when we write about similar topics, I am game. We can send traffic to one another.
Yahoo searches - Yahoo Buzz Index Topic ideas out the gazoo that Yahooers are reading.
AOL searches - What's Hot on AOL search? To the right on my screen.
Ask.com - What's hot? Though not updated every day, I was surprised at how much traffic I get from this source.
Technorati - Top Searches I don't get a lot of traffic directly from Technorati. Okay, make that very little, but I do get ideas about what's hot and what other bloggers or writing about and that helps.
These avenues will most likely be more slow growing, but its worth a try.
What ideas do you have?
