This week on Blog Chalk Talk, we'll discuss the power of serial posting, or doing series of blog posts around a theme. I'll explain why post series can be powerful; Kimberlee will share ways to do recurring-theme series; and Dan will show you how to do a post series offering definitions of terms.
So ... why can it be powerful to be a serial poster?
1. The Snowball Effect - As you write about the same theme over and over, your posts can build off of each other and accumulate increasingly rapid readership growth with little or no extra time or effort spent. So if you do a 10-post series on the top 10 famous people in your blog topic, as you go through the series you may find that you get more and more readers to your posts. Plus you can link back to older posts in the series and get even more page views per visitor than before.
2. The Uniqueness Factor - Anybody can write one post. And yeah, anybody can write a post series. But a series does increase the likelihood that you'll be noticed for expanding on a unique idea.
3. The Time Condensation Effect - It's so easy to keep writing about a topic once you've started. Why not think of every post you write as though it were the first of a series, or led into a future post?
I'm sure you can think of other advantages of post series. Let's hear 'em!
